Taxi or Limousine? You Decide
Have you ever heard any of these statements?
"I'm the most active agent in my office..."
"I'm the top listing team in my company"
"I've received the most awards by..."
"I'm the number one agent in my area..."
If you answered yes, what does it mean?
It means you're talking with a traditional real estate agent. Traditional agents focus completely on themselves and leave the potential client as a secondary concern. This is because traditional agents find it difficult to differentiate themselves from their competition, so they are forced to resort to puffed up claims and egoic statements.
So what is the difference between a traditional agent and a professional agent?
This can be answered by using a metaphor. If you have to go to the airport, would you rather take a taxi or a limousine? They will both get you to your destination, but the experience will be very different. Traditional agents typically provide the experience of riding in a taxi...a standard level of service and a mediocre experience. Why? Because as soon as a traditional agent contracts with a new client, they immediately begin looking for their next client. On the other hand, professional agents focus entirely on their existing clients with the understanding that an extremely satisfied existing client will refer more business than the professional agent would have ever obtained otherwise. In other words, professional agents focus heavily on making the entire sale or purchase experience smooth, seamless and enjoyable.
How can someone determine who they're dealing with?
The quickest way to determine the type of agent your talking with is to ask some in-depth questions...questions that will dig deep into the agent's transactional knowledge and force them to abandon the hyped-up puffery they learned in one day seminars.
